Addressing Cost and Accessibility in Herbal Education
The Eclectic School of Herbal Medicine recognizes that herbal education can be costly and challenging to access. That’s why we pride ourselves on providing quality education and clinical experience opportunities at rates lower than the average herbal program, along with extended payment plans. Still, we understand that our prices might remain out of reach for some.
We are committed to working on the barriers of cost and accessibility in herbal education. To support this mission, we offer two scholarship pathways for prospective students to explore. It is our hope that, as our school flourishes, our capacity to provide scholarships will expand as well.

Stepping Stones Scholarship Program
Our Stepping Stones Scholarship offers a limited number of full and partial need-based equity scholarships for each tier of our program every year. These scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis until all slots are filled. If you miss an opportunity in the year you are applying for, you are welcome to reapply the following year. This program requires a short application and an informal interview.
Everyone begins at the Foundational level. Upon completion of each tier, you may apply for a scholarship for the next tier of the program, all the way through our clinical practicum.
Our goal with this scholarship is to allow individuals to explore and discover herbalism at every level. Not everyone interested in herbal medicine knows exactly what they want to do with their education, nor is everyone ready to commit to 3+ years of advanced study immediately. To ensure the growth of herbalism, we need competent herbalists at the foundational, community, and clinical levels. By progressing one tier at a time, participants can avoid overcommitting and we can ensure that clinical scholarships go to those who have the capacity and desire to complete the program.
Excellence in Community Care Clinical Program Scholarship
We offer two comprehensive clinical program scholarships per year for individuals who are already working in herbalism at the community or clinical level and wish to continue their education. This scholarship is intended for those with financial need who are also working in underserved communities. The application process includes a short essay, an interview, and a nomination from another herbalist.
Our goal with this scholarship is to enable individuals working with plants in underserved communities to receive the clinical education necessary to serve their communities at a practitioner level. Although our programs are self-paced, comprehensive clinical program scholarship recipients are required to complete their coursework within three years and join a clinical practicum cohort within one year of completing their coursework.
